Check out these upcoming tree lights in Washtenaw County

WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI — As December approaches, some Washtenaw County towns are getting ready to kick off the holiday season with annual tree lights.

During these celebrations, cities sometimes sip warm drinks, sing Christmas carols, or receive a surprise visit from Santa himself. Here is a list of upcoming tree lighting ceremonies taking place in Washtenaw County:

Ypsilanti:

Depot Town will hold its tree lighting ceremony on Sunday, November 27 at 5:30 p.m. at the tree across from Sidetrack at 56 E Cross St. After the lighting, Santa and Mrs. Claus will go to the historic Ypsilanti Freighthouse 100 Marktpl. for free cider, hot chocolate, cookies, candy canes and more. Sing songs with the Ypsilanti Community High School Choir, make snowflakes and enjoy hot chocolate at the Ypsilanti Christmas Tree Lights on Friday, December 2 from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. The event will be held at the Ypsilanti District Library at 229 W Michigan Ave. Santa instead will even be there to take some photos in his sleigh. For further information, click here.

Saline’s Annual Tree Lights will be held Tuesday, November 29 at 6:00 p.m. in front of KeyBank at 100 W. Michigan Ave. instead of. To learn more about the tree lighting or the city’s annual holiday parade, visit the Saline Area Chamber of Commerce website.

Chelsea:

From 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, December 2nd, Chelsea will be hosting its annual tree lighting ceremony at Pierce Park, 851 S. Main St. Santa will be there ready to kick off the holiday season and there will be free jets to hotties Chocolate from Pizza and Lakehouse Bakery while supplies last. Municipality of Dexter:

An annual tree lighting ceremony will be held on Saturday, December 3 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the Hudson Mills Metropark Activity Center. The event costs $5 per adult and $3 per child. Children under the age of two are free.

The event at 8801 N Territorial Rd. will include a Glow Walk where attendees can walk wearing glowing clothing and enjoy a fire and hot cocoa. Those interested must register for the event here by 4:00 p.m. the day before the program.

Upper parish:

Santa will light the Superior Township tree on Saturday, December 3rd beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Superior Township Hall, 3040 N. Prospect Rd. . During this illumination there are carolers, hot chocolate, cookies and pictures with Santa Claus.

Municipality of Nordfeld:

Check out a tree light up at the Northfield Township Area Library at 125 Barker Rd. on Tuesday, December 6 from 6:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. During the tree lighting, Santa, the Whitmore Lake High School Marching Band will play Christmas carols and more.
