To Thor: Love and Thunder, we wonder what’s next for Thor (Chris Hemsworth) in the MCU. Despite the film’s ending, Thor’s story is not over yet. In recent interviews, Chris Hemsworth addressed the character and said that he would like to give the character a true send-off. He also spoke about Thor’s future and said he would like a reinvention of the character.
That’s not enough to confirm that gate 5 is being worked on. Or that Thor will necessarily appear in the next avenger Movies: The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. But it sure looks like the actor is ready to continue playing the character. Some Marvel spoilers may follow belowespecially if you haven’t seen all of the Phase 4 movies and shows.
In an in-depth interview with vanity fairHemsworth said he’s ready to play his iconic superhero character “if there’s something unique, fresh, and unexpected to do” with Thor in the MCU.
But the actor also added that he felt like “we’d probably have to close the book if I ever did it again, you know what I’m saying? I feel like it probably justifies that.
“I have a feeling it’s probably going to be the finale, but that’s not based on anything anyone has told me or any plans,” he warned. “You have this birth of a hero, journey of a hero, then death of a hero, and I don’t know — am I at that stage? Who knows?”
Chris Hemsworth on Thor’s future
Which brings us to Chris Hemsworth’s interview with Josh Horowitz about the Happy sad confused podcast. Thor and Marvel inevitably came up when Horowitz asked the MCU star what would happen to the character after Taika Waititi left the franchise. Would Thor get dramatic again?
Hemsworth explained that he values his diverse experiences playing Thor and that it’s about reinventing the character.
“Look at you gate 1 and 2They were quite alike,” the actor said. “Ragnarok and love and thunder are similar. I think it’s about reinventing it. I had such a unique opportunity with Infinite War and endgame very drastic things to do with the character. It’s fun for me, I like keeping people busy. It keeps me busy.”
Hemsworth warned that he doesn’t know if Marvel will call him back for more Thor action. But he explained that Thor’s move keeps him invested in the role.
“It keeps me invested. I’ve said that before, but I think if it gets too familiar, I run the risk of getting lazy because I know what I’m doing,” Hemsworth said. “I don’t know if I’ll ever be invited again. But if it was me, I’d have to be a drastically different version in tone and all, just for my own sanity. […] Thor lost his mind on the latter, he needs to find out now.”
