Flint Small Business Saturday promises a centralized, fun shopping experience

FLINT, Mich. (WNEM) – Various businesses and entrepreneurs will sell their wares in one place during a neighborhood shopping event on Small Business Saturday.

The marketplace is called Flint Small Business Saturday. Ebonie Gipson, Founder of I’m Building Something Consulting, saw a need to centralize the shopping experience for Flint entrepreneurs and their customers during the busiest shopping weekend of the year. Flint Small Business Saturday is now in its sixth year.

“When I started the agency, I realized that there was no entrepreneurial hub that brought together entrepreneurs from all corners of the city and from different industries, so we partnered with the Word of Life Christian Church to put this platform together. said Gypson.

Industries such as health and personal care, fashion, jewelry, literature and photography are just a few that will be represented on Saturday, November 26 from 12pm to 5pm at the Word of Life Christian Church in Flint.

“A lot of different industries, and then we also have a couple of organizations that we’re really excited about,” said Gipson. “Heart of Worship Dance Studio, they have an event coming up and they will be there so it’s really a community event.”

Flint Small Business Saturday is an American Express Neighborhood Champion for the 4th time, enabling the organization to better equip small business owners with the tools to succeed.

Gipson said small business owners really need the influx of business this weekend as we approach an uncertain 2023.

“I cannot express how important it is to shop locally this year and especially to support our black-owned businesses,” said Gipson. “We had inflation. Our cost of goods is higher than ever. There is talk of a recession, and as entrepreneurs we basically feel it. While we’re wise with our dollars, we want you to be conscious about where you spend those dollars this holiday season. When you spend them in your neighborhood, when you spend them on your local businesses, it allows our economy to thrive right in our backyard.”

The Saturday event will also feature hourly giveaways and the opportunity to take goods home from each store.

“When you buy or support a certain number of entrepreneurs, you get a free little business box that’s full of goodies from entrepreneurs from around town, and it’s just our way of saying thank you to the community and our neighbors for supporting our event. said Gypson.

Flint Small Business Saturday will be hosted by Kristian “Cheesetixxz” Nunn and Gipson. The fun atmosphere will also include music from a DJ. Visit FlintSmallBusiness.com to learn more.
