Group G World Cup Table 2022 Rankings: Updated Results and Fixtures for Brazil, Serbia, Switzerland and Cameroon

Brazil were pre-tournament favorites to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the first game of the tournament only served to bolster that consensus.

The Selecao overtook Serbia in the second half to move up top of Group G with a 2-0 win and the better goal difference thanks to two goals from Richarlison. However, Neymar’s ankle injury has everyone in the Brazilian camp on high alert.

Next up will be Switzerland to try to slow down the South American giants. The Swiss started their tournament with a clean 1-0 win over Cameroon thanks to a goal from Cameroon-born Swiss striker Breel Embolo. It was a Swiss performance that was more efficient than impressive, with Cameroon drawing a handful of dangerous looks.

Alongside Brazil and the Swiss, who would be delighted to see a draw in this game, Serbia will be chasing all three points in the second round against a Cameroon side desperate to win at all costs.

Barring surprises, the final group match between the two European sides – Serbia and Switzerland – is likely to determine the second team to progress to the knockout stages alongside favorites Brazil.
