Staff forecasts for week 13

The 2022 regular college football season concludes this week.

Since it’s Thanksgiving, we’ve got three days of action-packed college football, including Friday and Saturday. Among the games to be screened on Friday is a clash of rivals when NC State travels to Chapel Hill to take on North Carolina.

The Tar Heels are hoping to get back on track and get into the Victory Column after being stunned by Georgia Tech a week ago. With a date coming up against Clemson in the ACC title game, they can’t look too far ahead as the Wolfpack will try to anger the Tar Heels and credit them with their second straight loss, ruining any chance of an Orange Bowl appearance .

There’s still a lot to play in Chapel Hill on Saturday. Let’s move on to our employee forecasts for week 13.

Zack Pearson

Prediction: UNC 31, NC State 28

Season record: 8-3

UNC really needs to recover and win after that loss to Georgia Tech in the regular season finals. They can also avenge last year’s loss to the wolf pack.

I think UNC’s offense will make all the difference here and I can’t imagine Drake Maye and this unit having weeks full of stinkers in a row. Let’s see if UNC can pull off a win here and save Orange Bowl hopes.

Alec Lasley

Prediction: UNC 31, NC State 20

Season record: 9-2

UNC returns to the field after a disappointing loss to Georgia Tech last week. The Tar Heels were caught looking ahead and now the wind seems to have been taken out of their sails. That can’t happen when there’s an ACC title game coming up. The wolf pack is ready for this matchup, especially after back-to-back losses by twos.

The offense against the Yellow Jackets was terrible and I think they want to get that sour taste out of their mouths. Mack Brown was certainly disappointed this week and should get this team ready to play with some advantage that was missing a week ago. I think JNC is recovering strongly.

Richard Adkins

Prediction: UNC 35, NC State 31

Season record: 9-2

The rivalry game is finally here, and UNC has a chance to win the North Carolina teams cleanly this season. Unlike Appalachian State, Wake, and even Duke, the game against NC State involves some bad blood after the two teams traded shots throughout the season. North Carolina has the better offensive offense and NC State has the better defense.

UNC needs to capitalize early and put the wolf pack on their heels. This game should go in North Carolina’s favour. However, after their disappointing loss to Georgia Tech, it will likely come down to who wants it more. I love it when quarterback Drake Maye pulls off a statement game and starts icing the cake of one of North Carolina’s better seasons.
