Have you woken up to every other TikTok that offered you a share of 10,000 “Dablons” in a manner reminiscent of a fever dream, or are you normal?
Almost overnight, a trend that straddles the line between cryptocurrency exchanges and role-playing games took over the social media platform as it doesn’t seem to be about actually exchanging funds, despite the fact that doubloons are legitimate (though that’s to be taken with a pinch of salt) . ) form of crypto.
Instead, TikTokers are giving away, stealing and trading the so-called funds for fictional goods, turning the FYP into what feels like an almost real game Skyrim or Dungeons and Dragons. Basically, this newfound virtual economy is — run by cats, did we mention that? –is the meme
User @britedragon, who is called Alexis according to his bio, has sort of broken down the complex structure of the intricacies of the game. As the imaginary currency took off this month, the world revolves around the 4 Dabloons Cat, a meme posted to Instagram last year in reference to the cat’s four “toe beans.”
According to Alexis, for the past year or so, every time they came across the image, people have been organically collecting the Dabloons. For example, if you saw it four times, you had 16 Dabloons.
In the past few weeks, users have started uploading it to TikTok in a storyboard format, addressing scrollers on the FYP as weary travelers and offering them burgers or hot stew in exchange for – you guessed it – four Dabloons. It went uphill from there, with users opening shops that only accepted Dabloons, and others offering a few Dabloons here and there to those who still needed to grow their Dabloon accounts, and even a few Nigerian Prince scams for good measure. One user even put out a news bulletin to offer updates on the ups and downs of the Dabloon economy – it’s also suffering from the effects of inflation, by the way – while others shared their budgeting tips and tricks (from a simple note-taking app). to a full blown Excel spreadsheet – don’t forget to set aside enough for tax season!).
Most users are delighted with the camaraderie the new game has brought among TikTokers, although admittedly many are still confused.

“I’ve seen a full Dabloon government AND a revolution,” one user commented.
“Don’t forget the Dabloon Thieves! I’ve been robbed twice now 😭 I need insurance,” lamented another.
But for those who just couldn’t get it, Alexis confirmed, “It’s all an imaginary economy based on an honor system, lol.”
So if you want to participate in the new physical world there is little pressure, but if you don’t, again there is no pressure. It’s just as entertaining to watch as this unfolds before your eyes!
